HRMC Increases Visitor Restrictions

HURON, SD – Huron Regional Medical Center has updated visitor restrictions to help reduce the spread of infection to protect patients and staff.

Due to recent increases in COVID-19 positive cases, as well as influenza and other respiratory illnesses, only one visitor/support person, per day will be allowed for hospital patients and its clinics: HRMC Physicians Clinic, Tschetter & Hohm Clinic and Women’s Wellness Center. For inpatients on the medical/surgical floor, this means that only one visitor will be allowed to visit one time per day and will not be allowed to come and go throughout the day. The HRMC Birthing Center will allow only one support person for the duration of the patient’s stay.

The restrictions are to protect the health and safety of our patients, families and staff, and we appreciate the support of the community in taking safety precautions. Everyone entering HRMC must wear a mask and also stop at the screening station to answer a few short questions about symptoms, exposure or pending test results. Community members are asked to continue to be diligent in wearing your mask, social distancing, washing your hands and staying home while sick to prevent the spread.

During this time of visitor restrictions, friends and family are encouraged to call, text, FaceTime, send and e-card or use social media to connect with patients. Signs are posted at the hospital to alert visitors of the updated restrictions and the requirement to mask and screen before entering.

Watch social media for additional updates and changes. Up-to-date information about the COVID-19 illness is available on HRMC’s website. at http://huronregional.org/covid-19
