Huron Regional Medical Center (honored its December Exceptional Employee of the Month, Brooke Sydow, EdD, with a reception on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
Sydow, who started working at HRMC in June of 2017 as a workforce and program developer, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Brooke is a shining example of someone who cares and is committed to our community and the health of everyone in it!”
“Her gifts are amazing – she has been one of the most instrumental team members in bringing a nursing school back to the Huron community,” the nomination continued. “Brooke motivates us and is respected by all. She is a friend and valued employee!”
In her role, Sydow assists HRMC staff in a variety of areas. Some of her areas of focus include student and workforce recruitment and retention, local nursing education opportunities and diversity integration. Sydow has worked continuously to secure a partnership through Southeast Technical Institute, and many community partners, to bring back a nursing school to Huron. Most recently, Sydow has been working to receive grant funds that will help HRMC coordinate English as a Second Language (ESL) Training in Healthcare and a Registered Apprenticeship in Nursing.
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
