Huron, S.d. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its November Exceptional Employee of the Month, Cheri Leyendecker, RN, with a small department celebration earlier this month.
Leyendecker, who has worked as a nurse at HRMC for 18 years and currently works at the HRMC Physicians Clinic, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to the nomination, “Cheri has gone above and beyond to help me since I started as an employee at the clinic.
“She took time out of her busy schedule to show me how to do things and explained step-by-step the computer system and procedures,” the nomination continued. “Even though we don’t work in the same area, she still takes time to find me and ask me how I’m doing and if I understand everything.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As November exceptional employee, Leyendecker received a flower bouquet, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
Leyendecker earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Mount Marty College. Prior to joining HRMC, she worked as a RN in Chamberlain. She and her husband, Jason, live in Huron and have two children: Lindsey, a Freshman at SDSU and Logan an 8th grader at Huron Middle School. In her spare time, Leyendecker enjoys attending her kids activities.
