HRMC Honors Ford as June Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center  honored its June Exceptional Employee of the Month, Theresa Ford, RN, with a reception on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

Ford, who has worked as a registered nurse at HRMC for 18 years, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Theresa goes above and beyond caring for emergency room patients.”

“She knows her stuff and is straightforward with her interactions with patients – yet, she also shows respect and compassion at all times,” the nomination continued. “Theresa is knowledgeable and does a great job teaching patients before they are sent home from the ER.”

HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.

As June exceptional employee, Ford, received a reception with family, friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.

Ford graduated from Huron University (HU) with an associate degree in nursing in 2001 and began her career as a nurse at HRMC. She worked weekends and continued her education to earn a bachelor of science in nursing from HU. She worked many years on the medical/surgical floor – learning from the “great old school” nurses who came before her. She also cross-trained to the nursery and emergency room where she found her true nurse calling.

“I have loved working in the emergency room and enjoy my coworkers and the feeling of really helping people in their time of need,” said Ford. “Working in the ER is as demanding as it is rewarding, but it is wonderful to know we can truly make a difference in the lives of our patients in this great community when they need us.”

Ford and her husband, Marty, live in Huron have three children: Taylor, age 20; Kristina, age 13; and Audrina, age 2. When she isn’t working, Ford is busy running her 13-year old around to all of her activities and playing with her toddler.
