Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its March Exceptional Employee of the Month, Stacie Dowling, with a small department celebration earlier this month.
Dowling, who has worked at HRMC for nearly 17 years and currently works as a project manager in HRMC’s information services department, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to the nomination, “Since she joined the HRMC team, Stacie has been taking on tough challenges and paving the way for impactful organizational changes by encouraging others to learn and grow both personally and professionally.”
“As project manager for HRMC’s new electronic health record, she used active listening to implement training, resolve issues and create understanding,” the nomination continued. “Stacie is determined, diligent, thorough, detail-oriented – and has a heart for people!”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As March exceptional employee, Dowling received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month. Dowling was also recognized as exceptional employee in February 2006.
Dowling earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota. Prior to joining HRMC in 2004, she worked as communications writer and web author for NorthWestern Energy in Huron.
She began her career at HRMC in the marketing and communications department where she was instrumental in, among many other things, planning, managing and launching four public facing websites, giving a public face to HRMC and access to information that could positively impact community members’ health and wellbeing. Motivated by a desire to help others and create purpose in caregiving she added Patient Experience Team (PET) leader to her responsibilities. In 2020, Dowling was tapped to utilize her technical, creative and team building skills to lead the implementation of a new electronic health record for the hospital, HRMC’s clinics and other medical providers in the community.
She and her husband, Troy, farm near Alpena. They have three daughters: Samantha, who will graduate from the nursing program at Northwestern College and join the HRMC team in May, Jolie, a junior at James Valley Christian School, and Alexis, a fourth grader at JVCS. In her spare time, Stacie enjoys following her children’s activities, serving in her church and at JVCS, racing, camping and spending time with family.
