HRMC Closes Hospital to Visitors

HURON, SD – To protect the health and safety of our patients, families and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, Huron Regional Medical Center has made the difficult decision to stop all visitation except for the following:

  • Birthing Center – one support person for labor/delivery
  • Minor child – one parent for the duration of the stay
  • No other visitors allowed except on a case-by-case basis determined by the department director (e.g., end-of-life, special circumstances.)

All visitors will be instructed to stay in the patient room.

Instead of visiting someone in person, friends and family are encouraged to call, text, FaceTime or use social media. Signs are posted at the hospital to alert visitors of the updated restrictions and designated visitor entrances with staff available to assist patients and visitors and provide screening.

Up-to-date information about the COVID-19 illness is available on HRMC’s website at www.huronregional.org/COVID-19.
