The South Dakota House passed a bill requiring the Pledge of Alleigance be recited in public schools. Sioux Falls Representative Hal Wick brought the bill forward. It was the Sioux Falls School Districts initial decision to not require the Pledge be spoken in high school that fired up debate about the Pledge. The School Board in Sioux Falls changed course after controversy ensued. Rapid City Representative Kristen Conzet backed the bill but wondered why the legislature was taking it up….

The bill was approved unanimously by the House Thursday afternoon and moves on for further discussion in the Senate.
