The South Dakota House Education Committee held a hearing on HB1108 this morning, a bill that would prohibit gender identity instruction in public schools.
Sponsor Tom Pischke of Dell Rapids says that type of instruction can confuse young children.
Wade Pogany, Executive Director of the Associate School Boards says the bill is not needed.
While testimony on the bill wrapped up, Committee Chair, Representative Lana Greenfield of Doland put off a vote until after the House session this afternoon.
