House Committee Passes Bill On Internet Taxes

legislatureThe House State Affairs Committee unanimously passes a bill designed to lead to a court challenge.  The Main Street Fairness Act would require out-of-state merchants to collect and remit sales tax on items sold in South Dakota.  The U-S Supreme Court ruled in 1992 that states can not impose their sales tax on retailers who don’t have actual storefronts in their states.  Representative Roger Hunt is the bill’s prime sponsor in the House…..
