Athletes from all over the U.S. and the world have converged on Huron this week for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo. One of the more unique stories this week concerns a young cowboy from Hawaii who overcame some logistical hurdles to get his horse to the finals.
14 year Daniel Miranda comes from the island of Maui. The Miranda family raises over 1,300 head of cattle on their 9,000 acre ranch. Daniel says his family regularly transports their livestock to the mainland.
When it came to getting a horse to South Dakota what sounds like a complex operation is pretty routine for the Miranda family.
Daniel says the horse handled the flight well.
Daniel is competing in six events during the NJHFR which wraps up Saturday on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds.
