DE SMET, S.D. (AP) – Howard-based Horizon Health Care Incorporated has received a $1.04 million national Affordable Care Act grant to expand dental and medical access in the town of De Smet. The company will break ground on a new 9,000-square-foot facility in August. It will include six dental exam rooms, six medical exam rooms, office and reception space and waiting room areas. The clinic will add four positions for 20 fulltime employees. De Smet’s Horizon Health Care Clinic is housed in the local hospital, which plans to use that space in the near future. Horizon CEO John Mengenhausen says the grant will help the company continue to offer close-to-home access to preventive dental care in a cost-effective setting. Horizon provides care in 17 South Dakota communities.
