The South Dakota Highway Patrol is accepting applications for state troopers through August 9. The current openings are available in Aberdeen, Belle Fourche, Burke, Parker, Pierre, Pierre Capital Protective Services, Presho, Rapid City, Salem, Sioux Falls, Watertown and Wessington Springs. The areas are subject to change based on the needs of the Highway Patrol. Applicants attend 24 weeks of classroom training at the Highway Patrol Academy in Pierre. Recruits who are already a certified law enforcement official must undergo 11 weeks of training. Applicants must be at least 21, a U.S. citizen and provide a valid South Dakota driver’s license.
