Lawyers continue to prepare for trial in a Huron rape case. A pre-trial motions hearing is scheduled for October 1st in the case of 65-year-old John Rose. Rose was indicted around Christmas time last year on 32 various counts of rape and incest including eight counts of first-degree rape, eight counts of sexual contact with a child under 16, eight counts of aggravated incest and 12 counts of possession or manufacture of child pornography. Rose is currently out on bond. In April, the Beadle County States Attorney’s office requested the bond be revoked, based on additional information the office received. A judge ruled Rose could stay our of jail but a condition was added requiring Rose to stay away from the Splash Central waterpark in Huron. Rose’s trial on the charges is set for October 23rd. All of the charges faced by Rose are felony charges. Rose could face a maximum of life in prison if convicted
