Beadle County authorities have joined Hand County officials in the search for a missing Pierre man. Leroy Nye was last seen between 10:30 and 10:45 PM Saturday night while visiting family in Saint Lawrence. Family members noticed a missing vehicle around 7:00 A-M Sunday morning. The Hand County Sheriff’s Office believes Nye left the home around 1:30 AM Sunday when family heard a disturbance downstairs. Nye suffers from Dementia and is very confused. He has been off his medication for over a day. Authorities believe Nye, who is in his early 80’s, is inadequately dressed for the environment wearing only a T-shirt and underwear. He took a dark green Chrysler Intrepid with South Dakota plates 33-M 2-0-2. As of Sunday evening officials have had no leads in Nye’s whereabouts. Anyone who has seen Nye, the green four door Chrysler Intrepid or has made contact with either are asked to contact local law enforcement or the Hand County Sheriff’s Office at 605-853-2408.
