Hand County Sheriff Investigates Copper Theft

The Hand County Sheriff’s office is investigating the theft of copper wire from an irrigation pivot south and west of Wessington. In a posting on the Hand County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Managements Facebook page, Sheriff Doug DeBoer says the theft was no small project and its very likely a team of thieves worked to take the wire and that it would have taken considerable time to pull of the heist. The wire is used to feed electricity to the drive motors along the length of the pivot system.
