When current South Dakota State Treasurer Josh Haeder was campaigning for the job last year, one of his pledges was to help start financial literacy programs for students.
Haeder says the need is still apparent.
Haeder says he wants to have private businesses help with the programs.
Haeder says it will take a while to get those programs in place.
He says he wants to work with school districts to enhance their programs rather than mandate them from Pierre.
