Haeder says his interest grew after checking the treasurers website.
Haeder says he talked to current state Treasurer Rich Sattgast about online threats against the office.
Haeder says he enjoys public service.
Haeder, a native of Huron, has been a regional representative for Senator Mike Rounds.
Haeder will face democrat Aaron Matson in November.
