Gov. Dennis Daugaard says residents of eastern South Dakota should prepare for what could be record flooding. Daugaard says roads and buildings will be threatened along the Big Sioux River and the James River. He says people should take steps to protect their homes and businesses. The governor said people should prepare for evacuation if necessary. Daugaard says government agencies will work to protect roads, water supplies and other infrastructure. He says it’s up to property owners to protect their own property. The Governor will hold meetings in Sioux Falls, Brookings and Watertown on Wednesday to discuss potential flood problems. He says flooding on the Big Sioux River between Watertown and Sioux Falls could reach record levels. Daugaard will be in Huron tonight to speak at the annual meeting of the Huron Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau and Greater Huron Development Corporation
