Governor Kristi Noem was in Huron yesterday to speak at the Beadle County Republican’s Lincoln Day Dinner.
The Governor also presented the City of Huron with the Community of the Year award. The award was originally scheduled to be presented at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development’s annual meeting in Sioux Falls on April 11th. However, that event was canceled due to winter weather.
In announcing Huron’s selection, along with Volga, as Community of the Year, Noem made mention of HRMC’s pre-apprenticeship program and the community’s recent economic development.
Prior to last night’s dinner known participated in a community round table.
While taking questions from the audience Noem was asked which industries she sees potential expanding across South Dakota in the future. Noem says along with healthcare & biotechnology she sees great promise in cybersecurity.
Noem said South Dakota is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this opportunity.
Noem said South Dakota friendly environment also makes it attractive to cyber security companies.
