A report from the US Census Bureau this month showed more than half the towns in South Dakota are either not growing or are losing population.
Governor Dennis Daugaard says the state has several programs including some that can add more housing.
Daugaard says more money was added to the “Building South Dakota” program in the last legislative session.
Daugaard says the “Bulldoze, Build and Beautify” program through G.O.E.D. has also been used around the state.
The Governor says those state programs are tools that small towns can use to attempt to stabilize their populations.
