The South Dakota Blue Ribbon Task Force on Students and Teachers met last Thursday in Pierre. The group has been meeting in small and large groups since early summer looking for solutions to teacher retention related to low pay. Governor Dennis Daugaard says he was briefed on the meeting, and says there may be some good news from the group…
Daugaard says the group also talked about moving money around to pay teachers more…
Daugaard says student numbers have dropped by about forty thousand over the last thirty years, while the numbers of teachers and other school employees have increased. Daugaard says the Task Force also talked about redirecting capital outlay funds…
The task force didn’t reach any final conclusions, and will meet again on October 29th.
