Golf Cart Permit Ordinance Moves To Second Reading

In an effort to concur with state law, the Huron City Commission approved first reading of an ordinance requiring golf carts be permitted and have insurance. City Attorney Gerry Kaufman took a second look at an ordinance the City passed last year, after visits from some curious golf cart owners enjoying the recent nice weather…

Kaufman says any fee must be set by resolution and brought that point up, because the ordinance will require a second reading, giving the city time to formulate a resolution to set a fee, possibly of 10-dollars…

Commissioner Kerwin Haeder says for a golf cart owner, if you plan on keeping your wheels, the permit is a one and done proposition….

The permit would be required to remain with the vehicle but would not have to be displayed on the cart. Second reading of the ordinance is set for April 9th.
