This year’s Go Red for Your Heart will feature a fun-filled cooking class on Thursday, February 15, at 5:30 p.m. at Top Floor Events in Huron.
The event, hosted by Huron Regional Medical Center and Healthy Huron, will feature Table Time Mom Sarah Wipf, a local Wildtree representative, and Chef Brian Crabb from Top Floor Events.
“As you talk to people about the barriers to eating healthy, one common theme is not knowing how to prepare healthy meals day-in and day-out,” said Kim Rieger, vice president of marketing for HRMC and member of Healthy Huron. “Sarah has a unique approach to helping people take the mystery and challenge out that daily chore we all face.”
Wipf and four audience volunteers will prepare 10 make-ahead meals to help teach attendees how planning ahead can make mealtime less stressful and healthier. As Wipf and her volunteer team prepare the meal options, guests will enjoy one of the meals prepared by Chef Brian Crabb of Top Floor Events.
“Meal planning is really the key to eating healthier, reducing stress and making mealtime about reconnecting with your family – which is so very important in today’s crazy, busy world.” Explained Wipf. “Plus, planning ahead makes grocery shopping easier and saves on wasted groceries and impulse fast food decisions.”
Volunteers will each choose a make-ahead meal to take home with them and the other six meals will be given away to attendees as door prizes. Men and women are invited to attend and wear red in support of heart disease awareness.
The cost to attend is just $10 and include salad, beverage and entrée. RSVP online at www.huronregional.org/GoRed, or the HRMC main hospital information desk. Please RSVP by Friday, February 9. Doors open at 5 p.m. and Top Floor Events bar will also be available.
