Gitchie Manitou Survivor A Part of “Authors Among Us” Series at Huron Library

The Authors Among Us series continues Thursday, July 13 at 6:00 P.M., at the Huron Public Library. 

Phil and Sandy Hamman authors of Gitchie Girl will be joined by the subject of the book, Sandra Cheskey. 

Cheskey is the lone survivor of the 1973 Gitchie Manitou mass murders and her personal account regarding one of the Midwest’s most heinous crimes. Cheskey recently broke a forty-year silence to give the riveting and shocking inside story surrounding this horrific event.

They will give a PowerPoint presentation about the inside story of the book Gitchie Girl and the events surrounding the Gitchie Manitou mass murders. The presentation portrays the survivor’s story of Cheskey’s many struggles to rebuild her life emotionally and spiritually following a sexual assault that night.

A question and answer session with the lone survivor and authors as well as a book signing will follow the event. Gitchie Girl rose became a national best seller. 

Books will be available on site for purchase. This event is free and open to the public.
