GF&P Says Proposed Changes to Deer Hunting Rules is About “More Access to Deer For More People”

Finding a middle ground on deer licenses has been difficult for the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Department.

Secretary Kelly Hepler appeared before the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Tuesday to explain their plans. He says the new rules they proposed were about more access to deer for more people.

Hepler says the first set of rules on multiple licenses were sent back by the Rules Review Committee.

Hepler says they now have a compromise worked out by a group of hunters and members of the G, F & P Commission.

Hepler says they may hold an informational meeting for legislators on those licenses later in the session.
