The Huron City Commission has quite the list of items before them for tonight’s City Commission meeting. Commissioners will consider awarding a bid for a new skid steer loader for the Solid Waste Department and consider setting a bid date for a sanitary sewer wet well replacement project. The Commission will hold a public hearing for five special event alcohol license applications related to upcoming Chamber Mixers, filed by the Huron Chamber and Visitor’s bureau. A public progress hearing will be held regarding the east water tower and funding for that project. Pieces of that tower are finally starting to go up, while a second tower is nearly fully constructed and operational. The Huron City Commission will also get a presentation from the 2012-2013 Leadership Huron class and Beadle County Veteran’s Council regarding enhancements to the Veteran’s Memorial at 3rd and Wisconsin near the Huron Municipal Building. Four ordinance readings are the agenda for tonight. One is the second reading of an ordinance changing the terms for City Commissioners and the mayor to four years. Two are first readings for supplemental appropriations for 2012. The fourth is the first reading of a rental housing provisions ordinance. Ten departmental items are on the agenda including consideration of 2012 year-end transfers, considering authorizing city firefighters to use blue flashing lights on personal vehicles for response to calls and considering an agreement for records management software for the police department. Commissioners will also consider a request to apply for State Drug Control funds to purchase a replacement K-9 vehicle, a job description for a Traffic Police Officerand five other human resource items. The Huron City Commission will meeting in executive session for negotiations and a work session for liaison assignments
