Ft. Thompson Men Charged With Murder

RAPID CITY, SD – Two Fort Thompson men face federal murder and burglary charges in the beating death of a Lower Brule Sioux Tribe man.
22-two-year-old Aphonoso Drapeau and 20-year-old Gavin Dapreau have pleaded not guilty to a federal indictment charging each with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and aiding and abetting.   The men are accused of stomping and beating Heath Traversie to death. Officials say Traversie was attacked Oct. 2.   The United States Attorney generally prosecutes felonies committed on reservations, while tribal courts handle misdemeanor charges.
