Ft. Pierre Man Gets Prison Time For Defrauding Dakotaland

A Fort Pierre man will spend 33-months in federal prison for attempting to defraud a Huron credit union. Forty-year-old Wyatt Rasmussen was indicted on bank fraud charges by a federal grand jury in May. He pleaded guilty in August. U-S Attorney Brendan Johnson says Rasmussen applied for a business line of credit from Dakotaland Federal Credit Union. In his credit application, Rasmussen created and submitted fraudulent documents that grossly overstated and misrepresented his income. Dakotaland then approved the credit line for Rasmussen, who then used the funds for personal purposes. After Rasmussen completes his over two and a half years in prison, he will be on supervised release for three years. Rasmussen must make restitution to Dakotaland Federal Credit Union of 238-thousand, 969-dollars and 59-cents.
