Frist Reading Of Distracted Driving Ordinance Among Limited Items On Commission Agenda Tonight

A very light agenda greets the Huron City Commission for tonight’s regular weekly meeting of the group. Commissioners will consider setting a bid date and specifications for water treatment chemicals for next year. The Commission will also consider a request to withdraw a plat filed by George and Roger Bauder. The Bauders original plat request came before the City Commission on October first. The first reading of Huron distracted driving ordinance is tonight. Along with that is the resolution that will set the fines and penalties for violating the ordinance. The ordinance itself will require a second reading, likely next week then 20 days following publication before it will actually become enforceable. The Commission will also consider accepting a Homeland Security grant to place a console in the North Fire Station to house back-up police dispatch radio equipment. The Huron City Commission will end it’s meeting in executive session for negotiations. The Huron City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 PM and the meeting is open to the public
