Fees Increase at State Parks and Rec Areas

Visitors to South Dakota state parks and recreation areas this year will see that some costs have gone up.

Game, Fish & Parks Department Spokesperson Lynn Spomer says there are changes to camping definitions and rates

Spomer says they are responding to the usage of units across the state

Spomer says most of the fees that are paid by visitors goes back into improvements to those recreation areas

Camping fees will now range from eleven dollars a night for a basic site, to forty five dollars for a camping cabin. Most parks are raising rental rates for shelters and other more modern facilities. The fee hikes were effective on January first.
