Fall enrollment at South Dakota State University is down more than three-percent from fall of last year. The South Dakota Board of Regents released the official numbers Thursday.
Overall enrollment at the six public universities is down about two-percent.
At SDSU, enrollment is 12,107 students, down more than 400 from last fall’s count of 12,527.

President Barry Dunn says there are several factors but a big drop in international students is significant. International student enrollment had been going up until new rules put in place by the Trump administration.
He says young people can get a two-year degree from a tech school or community college and get a good job right away.
He says South Dakota freshman numbers were also down a bit. Overall, freshman numbers are about 22-hundred.
In contrast to these system enrollment trends, Dakota State University at Madison reported a two-percent growth in head count.
