The South Dakota State Fair is considering expanding its use of an electronic ticketing and scanning system to better control admission and parking on the fairgrounds.
The system is already in use at the Grandstand. By scanning the ticket, staff are able to prevent fraud by keeping track of whether or not a ticket is in use. The system could also be used to ensure parking passes and other permits other could not be misused.
State Fair manager Peggy Besch told State Fair commissioners yesterday that there are some logistical issues to work out before the Fair makes a decision.
The system is provide by Etix, a web-based event ticketing and marketing company.
