Emergency, other SD shelters get housing grants

imagesPIERRE, S.D. (AP) – The South Dakota Housing Development Authority has granted more than $510,000 to 20 emergency and domestic violence shelters in the state.  The shelters are located in 15 communities across the South Dakota.  Funds can be used for renovation or rehabilitation of emergency housing shelters, shelter operations, homeless prevention, rapid re-housing and administrative expenses. The grants were given through the Emergency Solutions Grants Program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. South Dakota’s Housing Authority administers the program in the state.
The communities that the grants will benefit are: Aberdeen, Brookings, Custer, Huron, Lake Andes, Lemmon, Madison, Mitchell, Mobridge, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Watertown and Yankton.
