It’s round two and a second try at election day in places across South Dakota. Some area municipal and school board elections were postponed last week because of a winter storm. A new winter storm should show up AFTER you make it to the polls today. Ballots in Huron will be busy with information. Voters are deciding an open city commission spot, mayor’s seat, two open school board slots and a 22 million dollar bond issue for renovations to the Huron School District’s elementary schools. Dick Freske and Gary Harrington are running for city commission with Kerwin Haeder and Paul Aylward vying to become Huron’s next mayor. With Nichole Yost choosing not to run, only Michelle Bennett will be defending a seat on the Huron School Board. Challenging Bennett are Sherman Gose and Garrett Bischoff. A number of area races have also hit the re-set button. Municipal elections are scheduled for Arlington and White Lake with school board elections set for Miller, Redfield and Wessington Springs. Polling at all locations is open from seven A-M to seven P-M. In Huron voting is taking place at the Huron Arena. Election coverage will begin after eight P-M on Performance Radio
