Egan Man Dies In Highmore Roll-over

HIGHMORE, SD – A 31-year-old Egan man has died from injuries he suffered in a single-vehicle accident in central South Dakota more than two weeks ago.   The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Gary Francis Hemmer was a passenger in a Chevrolet Silverado driving northbound along Highway 47 five miles north of Highmore on Oct. 24 when the vehicle crossed the roadway and entered the west ditch, where it rolled.  Hemmer was taken to a Pierre hospital and later transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital, where he died from his injuries on Wednesday.   The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Jeffrey Hahn, of Egan, suffered minor injuries. Another passenger, 21-year-old Brett Jay Hauglid, of Colman, suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries.   The Highway Patrol says none of the three men were wearing seatbelts.
