South Dakota is typically referred to as a low-wage state. South Dakota Office of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Costello says that is simply not true.
Costello says a study was done that paints a more complete and fairer picture of South Dakota’s economy.
He says a comprehensive study like this can also attract more workers to the state.
After adjustments for state income tax, cost of living, and other factors, South Dakota ranked 19th in 2010 and 26th in 2011 in purchasing power.
