Ducks Unlimited has pledged $9 million dollars to conservation programs in South Dakota over the next five years. The organization is dedicated to the conservation and preservation of grasslands, wetlands, and other habitat crucial for waterfowl species. Jeff Heidelbauer is the DU Regional Vice President and also serves on the board of directors. He says some of funding will be used for the revolving land program….
Heidelbauer says that land is then generally sold back to landowners. He says with over 900 species of animals that rely on grasslands and wetlands, Ducks Unlimited is helping to fund a growing need…
While Ducks Unlimited has initiatives around the country, Heidelbauer says South Dakota is receiving the money because it lies within the Prairie Pothole Region….
