South Dakota lawmakers will begin their 2014 session in just over a month on January 14. The South Dakota Farm Bureau is gearing up for that and President Scott Vanderwal says one of the major issues they’ll be weighing in on is drainage.. He says one of his group’s priorities is making sure farmers are protected and can drain wet spots on their property.
Vanderwal says another state legislative priority is making sure the Ag Land Valuation law stays in place with some tweaks.
Vanderwal says one other priority of Farm Bureau is to make sure legislators upgrade the penalty for animal cruelty yet still protect producer’s rights.
