Huron Regional Medical Center and the HRMC Foundation decided to encourage creativity and honor health care workers for their annual Christmas Card in 2021. HRMC Foundation development secretary, Miranda Moore, came up with the idea to host an art contest and invite students in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade to share a drawing under the theme of “Prayers for Health Care Workers.”
There were 32 entries with many wonderful depictions of the important work our local health care workers, physicians and emergency responders provide for our community members. Alexis Dowling, who is a 5th grader at James Valley Christian School, submitted the winning drawing entitled “Angels Among Us,” with the wording “We rejoice for the saving angels workers are.” She came up with the idea because she says health care workers help people and so do angels. Her artwork was featured on a printed Christmas Card mailed to friends, donors and business partners of HRMC and the Foundation. She also received $50 in Huron Bucks. HRMC thanks all of the students who shared their creativity, which was posted throughout the hospital to encourage staff during the holidays.
