District 20 Candidate Allowed On Primary Ballot

A Mitchell man seeking election to the State House from District 20 can now move ahead with his campaign. Circuit Judge Mark Barnett ruled Friday that Democrat Dave Mitchell’s intentions were clear enough on his nominating petitions to allow his inclusion on the November ballot.  Mitchell says the decision goes beyond political affiliation….

He’s long been an advocate that for what might reasonably considered technical mistakes should not disqualify a candidate for office no matter what political party….

Barnett earlier ruled that District 8 Democrat Charlie Johnson’s nominating petition should be allowed despite a technical error.  Now that the ruling is done Mitchell says he can start working on his campaign strategy.
