Yesterday, the South Dakota Aeronautics Commission approved a funding request for the DeSmet airport.
The funds will be used to design runway turnarounds.
The total cost of the project is $50,000. The federal share of the project is $45,000, with the state supplying $2,500.
The commission expects to see more funding requests this week.
