Daugaard Says Little Progress Made at IHS

The State of South Dakota continues to talk to federal officials about funding for the Indian Health Service, and the costs to the state’s Medicaid program.

Governor Dennis Daugaard says there hasn’t been much progress in the past few months

Daugaard says the only thing that has changed is the leadership of IHS in the region

Daugaard says the Trump Administration is still getting up to speed on the IHS issue

The state is now spending more than fifty million dollars a year in Medicaid to cover native Americans that should be covered by Indian Health Services.
