Governor Dennis Daugaard greeted lawmakers in Pierre for the 87th session of the South Dakota Legislature with this State of the State address. Daugaard’s proposals for teachers include bonuses for the top 20-percent of teachers of five-thousand dollars, while all science and math teachers would get a 35-hundred dollar bonus. Daugaard also proposes the ending of teacher tenure.
