Most of the South Dakota will be in the deep freeze for the next few days.
Beadle County is included in a wind chill advisory from 6 pm tonight thru 6 am Tuesday morning. That will be replaced by a wind chill warning from 6 am Tuesday thru 9 am Thursday.
Wind chills of -55 to -65 are possible Tuesday thru early Thursday.
Frostbite can occur in as little as 5 minutes under such conditions. In extreme case hypothermia and death can result. You are reminded to keep exposed skin covered and limited the amount of time you spend outdoors.
If you are traveling during this period of extreme cold, remember to keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle.
