The Federal Emergency Management Agency rejected South Dakota’s request for Individual Assistance programs to aid residents affected by tornadoes and flooding last month. FEMA spokesman Randy Welch says the agency is finishing assessments that can be used by the state to request aid for public infrastructure….
The emergency response assessments include the costs of police, firefighters, and the material and labor involved in the building of levees. Welch says they will wrap up this week, and the study will be handed over to the state….
Governor Dennis Daugaard is also urging victims to take advantage of loans available from the Small Business Administration to help pay for damaged homes and businesses.
