Dakota Access Pipeline, LLC announced today it is donating $20,000 to each first responder department across South Dakota in the counties through which the pipeline passes, totaling $260,000.
The second of a series of check presentations took place this afternoon at the Beadle County Courthouse. Dakota Access presented $20,000 checks to Spink, Beadle, Kingsbury and Miner counties’ Emergency Management Departments.
Mike Futch, VP Interstate Engineering for Energy Transfer and Project Manager on Dakota Access was on hand today to make the check presentations.
Spink County’s Emergency Manager, Larry Tebben, plans to use the funds for equipment and training for Spink County Emergency Management, and the Redfield Rural and Tulare Fire departments.
Kingsbury County has 12 response agencies that will use the donation for equipment and training. Beadle County’s commission will determine the best use of the funds for first responders.
Dakota Access Pipeline traverses approximately 101 miles through Spink, Beadle, Kingsbury and Miner counties in South Dakota.
