A 10 day pledge drive for a 4 million dollar local and statewide amount to match additional amounts of 15 million dollars for the planned Dakota Events Complex is underway. The DEX would replace the beef complex on the SD State Fairground lost to a fire last year. Huron Chamber and Visitors Bureau, Greater Huron Development Corporation and Huron Community Foundation got together to talk about the “Daily DEX” a series that past users of the beef complex reflect on their experiences there and what they look forward to when the Dakota Events Complex is built. President and CEO of the Huron Chamber Visitors Bureau, Laurie Shelton said the time to act is now.
The President of Greater Huron Development Corporation, Ted Header, explains how the pledge match works.
Steve Gohn with Huron Community Foundation talks about why the foundation stepped forward at the start.
The Daily Dex series hopes to help reach the 4 million dollar amount to be joined with a 3 million dollar insurance payment and the state one time money of 12 million dollars asked by Governor Noem that would need approval by the legislature. Shelton talks about how to get involved with the drive.
Listen during local news over the next 10 days to hear experiences of citizens statewide of the beef complex and what they look forward to in the DEX.
