SIOUX FALLS, SD – A South Dakota team of investigators and prosecutors has been cited by the U.S. Department of Justice for investigating fraud and corruption on the Crow Creek Indian Reservation. The investigation involved bribes and kickbacks for contracts to rebuild the Crow Creek Tribal School after it was destroyed by fire. U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson called it a “complex and challenging investigation” that resulted in the conviction of a dozen people. The Justice Department handed out 159 awards Wednesday for exemplary work.
