The Huron city parking lot in front of the Crossroads Hotel Convention Center continues a transition from its original look and use of a two level parking structure to the ground level parking lot. Curb and gutter will soon be added and the crushed concrete from the former structure will be repurposed over the fall and winter months as the top surface to allow for parking while the ground settles into place. IMEG Engineering of Huron has been retained to work with the contractor, First Rate Excavate from Sioux Falls. An IMEG representative said that an asphalt surface covering the area that is in front of the Crossroads Hotel and not part of the former parking ramps may be used over the fall and winter months to smooth the transition from the gravel parking area. The lot will be paved with an asphalt surface in the spring.
