County Employee Terminated, Charged With Sex Crimes

A former Beadle County employee and his son have been charged with sex crime violations that are alleged to take place at the families day care center. Beadle County States Attorney Mike Moore says a grand jury returned indictments on September 14th..

The indictments says Sylaart and his son Jordan committed the crimes between January sixth of 2011 to the same date this year…

Moore says the day care is currently closed…

Sylaart has not been at work since the middle of the July when he was placed on administrative leave by the county when the investigation began…

Moore says the alleged victims are two females under the age of 12. The incidents in question happened at separate times. Both Sylaart’s are out of jail on bond. Moore says as a county employee he didn’t have much interaction with Sylaart…

The case is being prosecuted by Brown County States Attorney Kim Dorrsett due to a conflict of interest with Sylaart being a former county employee..
